During this workshop , participants will become familiar with the basic parts of a resource license; gain experience reading license terms with special attention paid to permissions; and in learning how to spot limitations and exclusions in the language, learn how to avoid getting stuck with an unfavorable license.

Learning Outcomes - at the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Define general license terms
  • Analyze and explain a variety of permissions statements
  • Suggest revisions/remedies to unfavorable license language

Acquisitions/Reference/Electronic Resource Librarians and library staff without a legal background or JD, and whose work flow is affected by resource licenses.
